Hey belles! I am sure that there are more than a few of you out there who aren't so new to natural hairstyles like I am. However, due to my strict workout regime, the reappearing heat from the sun, and my lack of attention to my hair, I've decided to dabble in the natural hair pool out of pure convenience. I could not continue roaming the streets of NYC with a boring pony tail for any longer! I was desperate for a change.
Before I knew it I'd stumbled upon youtube and discovered this easy, heat free, cute hairstyle. I gave it my all and I absolutely loved the outcome to death. I wanted to share my method, results, and opinions about it with you.
What Did I Do?
- First, I washed and deep conditioned my hair
- Next, I grabbed some olive oil spray, a long tail tip comb, and filled a spray bottle with water in case my hair dried out.
- I coated my hair in the olive oil and began parting it into several sections: about 14 sections (I have thinner hair)
- I began twisting my hair tightly until it locked underneath my hair into a nice bantu knot and proceeded until each section of my hair was knotted.
- I spritzed my hair with water and hair spray once I was done knotting every section of my hair
- I tied my hair with a silk scarf
- Slept on it & woke up the next morning and took the knots out carefully after my shower
- I unscrewed my knots like they were bottle caps making sure to keep the curl in tack
- Then I took apart the curl making sure it filled out nicely.
- I grabbed my comb and combed at my roots lightly to rid all of the parts from being visible.
- Then I pulled the curls slightly through my fingers for extra volume.
- Lastly I sprayed my hair lightly with water to add a bit more moisture and was set!!

I gave the hairstyle my all and I absolutely loved the outcome to death. It made my hair look so full and curls were so shiny, bouncy, and cute. All this done without the use of heat or tools was a plus. I've tried it twice wet and damp. I prefer it wet. I think this will be my summer go to style. Natural makes me feel so excited and fun. I am unsure if I want to make it something permanent or temporary. This style would be perfect for transitioning and safety. Who know's if I'll go all the way natural but one thing's for sure; I love it!
